We meet on Wednesday evenings from 6 pm - 7.45pm in the John Cheverton Centre at Mountbatten.

With a large membership of around 70 people, new members are welcome to join the choir at any time. We aim to be inclusive and to have fun, first and foremost. We sing uplifting songs – from modern pop classics to traditional songs and chants from around the world.

  • All welcome
  • No experience needed
  • No need to read music

Mountbatten Community Choir is comprised of patients, relatives, staff, volunteers and others – anyone with (or without) a connection to the hospice is welcome to join us.

Why join?

Our short video shows our choir in action and explains some of the reasons people have joined.

Why sing?

Everyone can sing and there are many health benefits. It is a great form of aerobic exercise promoting deeper breathing. Singing releases endorphins, reduces stress and increases confidence, self-esteem and positivity. It is also a great social activity and helps to build community.

About Mountbatten Community Choir

The choir launched in January 2017 and is now led by Francis Griffiths.

Our weekly Wednesday evening meetings are the main focus of the choir, but we also believe that music is something to be shared and enjoy opportunities to sing to others. We sing at hospice fundraising events and also perform concerts across the island.
