Welcome to Mountbatten Isle of Wight's inpatient unit in Newport

Our focus is on providing the best quality of life for the people we support. On our 16-bed inpatient unit, situated in our hospice building in Halberry Lane, Newport, you will be cared for 24/7 by our expert team of Mountbatten nurses, doctors, and healthcare assistants. Other people you might meet include our fully trained volunteers, pharmacists, physiotherapists, or spiritual care lead. The whole team works together to address your physical, emotional, social, or spiritual needs.

Why might you be admitted to Mountbatten Isle of Wight's inpatient unit?

  • You may need round-the-clock care from our specialist team to manage and control symptoms such as pain or sickness.
  • You may require physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy to achieve important goals before being discharged home.
  • Our team can provide reassurance, information, and advice to help ease any fears or worries you may have.

We work closely with you and your family members to create a personalised care plan and will support you in returning home when the time is right.

When will you leave Mountbatten Isle of Wight's inpatient unit?

The inpatient unit is not a long-term care facility. Our multi-professional team will collaborate with you and your family to help you reach the point where your symptoms and needs can be managed at home. You may receive continued support from the Mountbatten at home team.

If returning home is not possible, or additional support is required, we will explore and discuss alternative options with you and your family.
