REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

Is registration still open?
No. Online registration closed on 7 May at 9am.

Can I still take part if not registered?
Yes – on‑the‑day registration is available at start checkpoints for a suggested minimum donation of £20 (contactless or cash).

Schools Walk the Wight (SWTW)
Children plus one guardian are free.
Additional adults: £15, payable on the day.

Walker Packs (Important – Lost / Missing Packs)

If you registered before 16 April but your pack has not arrived:

➡ All lost or missing packs MUST be reassigned a new walker number.

What you must do:
• Attend pack collection on Saturday, 9 May (9am–4pm) at our Newport hospice in Halberry Lane OR
• Collect from your chosen start line

✅ We strongly recommend Saturday collection to reduce wait times at start lines.

What you must bring:
• Order receipt / confirmation to verify registration
• Any merchandise ordered will be re‑issued at the same time

Can someone else collect a pack?
Yes – they need the walker’s name and registration details.

Where can I collect my Walker Pack?

• Walker pack collection is only available from the Hospice, Halberry Lane on Saturday 9th May between 9am - 4pm. 
• Any Walker Packs not collected on Saturday 9th, will be available from your chosen route start line, on Sunday, 10 May.

Can I register on the day?

Yes - for a minimum donation of £20.

• Sandown (Flat Walk)
• Freshwater (Schools Walk)

Can I change my start location?

If you have received your walker number: YES
If you haven’t got your number, NO, as walker packs are sent to the start location you chose when you registered.

Are dogs allowed?
Yes – on leads at all times.

What if I can’t finish the walk?
Marshals and checkpoints are positioned along the route to help you.

Where can I buy Walk the Wight merchandise?

You can get your merch at any start line.

Prices:

• T‑shirt: £10 suggested minimum donation 
• Dog bandana: £5 suggested minimum donation
• Water bottle: £12 suggested minimum donation
• Caps: £15 suggested minimum donation
• Socks: £7.50 suggested minimum donation

Progress Cards – does this need to be signed on the day?

• Progress cards are included for you to mark your own personal progress along the route
• Volunteers will be available at each checkpoint to sign your cards but they do not need to be signed for you to continue on at each checkpoint.

Do I have to sign in on the day?

• No – if you have registered and have your walker number to hand you can start the walk.
• If you have not registered or need to pick up your pack, then please head to a registration tent at one of our starting locations.

General Event Questions

Can children take part?

• Yes - all walkers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.     
• Children wishing to take part in the main walk must pay to register.
• Children taking part in Schools Walk the Wight can register for free.

Can dogs take part?

Yes! Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
Dogs get a medal too, and dog bandanas (£5) are available on the day.

Why is there an entry fee?

Your fee helps cover essential event costs — fundraising is what truly supports Mountbatten’s services.

Travel & Transport

Are there travel discounts?

Yes - 20% off Red Funnel and Wightlink (see your event pack).
Hovertravel also runs an early sailing at 6:15am (pre‑booked).

Is there parking at start points?

No - please use our Park & Ride from Isle of Wight College.

---

Is transport included?

Yes - free buses all day for walkers with a walker number or medal.
Full schedules are available on the Mountbatten website.

What if I need to drop out on the route?

For weary walkers who don't feel able to complete the walk. There will be a MB mini bus shuttle from: Mottistone, Brook or Freshwater Bay and will take walkers to the finish at Alum Bay where they can get on the Southern Vectis Shuttle back to Newport.
