The Mountbatten Group has joined forces with Southampton Solent University to offer a postgraduate training course in palliative and end-of-life care.

This Level 7 module, worth 30 credits, is aimed at healthcare professionals.

Its goal is to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required to provide effective and compassionate care to people at the end-of-life, and their family.

Why study Palliative and End of Life Care with the Mountbatten Group of hospices and Southampton Solent University? 

Course overview

This postgraduate programme is designed for registered nurses, allied healthcare professionals and pharmacists.

The course aims to enhance your expertise in providing compassionate, evidence-based care for patients approaching the end-of-life and aims to prepare professionals to deliver exceptional end-of-life care, ensuring dignity, comfort and clinical excellence.

This accredited course forms one 30-credit module: Palliative and End-of-Life Care.

It focuses on the delivery of holistic, patient-centred care, supporting the physical, emotional, psychological and social needs of people dealing with death and dying, and their families.

A multi-professional team of experts will deliver teaching based on best practice and their knowledge and experience. Teaching will be interactive and scenario-based. 

The module emphasises the need to develop critical thinking and decision-making.

Who this course is for?

Registered nurses and allied health professionals with an interest in expanding their scope of practice to include palliative and end-of-life care.

Starting 23rd September 2026. 

Learning is split between independent home study and on-site teaching delivered over seven Wednesdays (of which six are teaching days and one is an assessment day). 

Location
