"At 31 years old, I was probably in the worst shape of my life. I changed my habits for myself and I set a target to complete a half marathon. I started running and honestly, I haven’t looked back!" He said he wanted "to raise at least £500 for the Isle of Wight Mountbatten Hospice. I’ve made such a positive adjustment to my own life, I’d love to make a positive contribution to this amazing charity through my passion for running." The care my dad and our family received at the hospice, in his final days, was truly invaluable. "Mountbatten’s work is vital but under financial pressure, so I’m running the marathon to help raise funds. At 66 it won’t be easy, but I’m committed to giving it my all." Emma and Dave Churcher Earlier this year, Emma and Dave ran the Paris Marathon, in support of Mountbatten Isle of Wight! "I chose Mountbatten Isle of Wight because of the support they offered my loved ones in their time of need, and it has a special place in my heart! "I ran for all the people who wish they had one more day and one more chance to experience something amazing, as tomorrow isn't promised." "I wanted to run the marathon for Mountbatten Isle of Wight because the care and support you guys give to those who need it is so important. "People deserve the best care possible. Any money I can raise to help provide that care is the least I can do." Max Draper Good luck to the three teachers from Carisbrooke Primary, Max, Rich, and James, who are running the Southampton Marathon on 3 May! "James, Rich and I came up with a silly idea and instead of kicking a ball or marking books at the weekend, we’ve decided to put on some trainers for 26.2 miles of pavement instead. "Why? No idea but if we are going to be this mad we will raise money for the incredible Mountbatten Hospice Isle of Wight whilst we are at it." Paul Webb On 2- 3 May, Paul is taking part in the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge 2026 for Mountbatten Isle of Wight! "I'm raising money for the Isle of Wight Mountbatten Hospice, they do such an amazing and difficult job on the Island. They were fantastic when my dad needed care and sadly passed away from MS in 1998, he was only 49, so younger than I am now. More recently they provided amazing help and care for both my grandparents. "I'm sure that no matter who you are they will have helped someone you know in some way and to continue their amazing work they need YOUR money, so be as generous as you can afford to be please."
