Mountbatten Isle of Wight's rehabilitation and enablement service will help you live well with a life-limiting illness or condition to improve your quality of life and achieve the things that matter most to you. One of the ways we support this is through the expertise of our Allied Health Professions team, which includes physiotherapists, an occupational therapist, and assistants. Whether you are staying on our inpatient unit, visiting as an outpatient at the John Cheverton Centre, or receiving care in your home, our team is here to help you. How can Mountbatten Isle of Wight's rehabilitation and enablement service help you? Occupational therapy Our occupational therapy team works with you to find practical solutions that enable you to continue doing the things that are important to you and maintain your independence. We can assist with: Managing personal care or domestic tasks Pursuing hobbies and activities you enjoy Living as independently as possible in your home Managing symptoms such as breathlessness, anxiety, and fatigue Equipment provision and the use of techniques to help you continue your everyday tasks Physiotherapy Our physiotherapists work with you to maximise your quality of life by helping you reach your personal goals, maintain independence, and improve function. Our focus is on: Improving strength and stamina Enhancing balance Reducing the risk of falling Pain management Easing respiratory symptoms Therapy is provided either in a 1:1 session or as part of a group and may take place in our well-equipped gym or in your own home if necessary. Our physiotherapists and occupational therapists run several groups designed to support specific needs: Supervised group gym sessions Living well with breathlessness and fatigue Reducing the risk of falling Balance circuits Open-access drop-in groups led by trained volunteers include: Seated Pilates group.
