Are you living with a chronic, long-term or terminal illness, and over the age of 65? Do you also feel lonely or isolated from your community?

Mountbatten Neighbours is a free, community-led pilot project covering Ryde, Newport, Shanklin, Ventnor, Freshwater and East Cowes, which could give you some extra support, to do the things you like doing and stay connected with people around you.

Mountbatten Neighbours are a group of trained people who offer their time, companionship and support to people living near them who have serious illnesses, or who are older.

How can a Mountbatten Neighbour help me?

They can

  • visit you for a cup of tea and a chat
  • go with you for a walk in the park
  • offer you friendship and emotional support
  • explain services provided by Mountbatten, which can help you live well with your illness
  • support you to make a plan for your future care, to make sure that your wishes and preferences are known and taken into account

If you would be interested in having the support of a Mountbatten Neighbour, fully trained and supported by Mountbatten, you can contact us for further information by email or phone (01983) 217368.

Could you be a Mountbatten Neighbour?

If you think you have what it takes to become a Mountbatten Neighbour, we would love to hear from you.

You will be given full training and regular support when you need it.
